Donnie Yen And The Return of Chen Zhen

Donnie Yen is top martial artist from Hong Kong. He was born in a family of wushu. His mother, Bow-sim Mark, is a wushu and tai chi chuan expert while his father, Klyster Yen, is an editor in a newspaper company in Hong Kong. Yen is a master in wushu and has won several wushu competitions before moving into movies.

His latest movie which will hit the screen soon is entitled ‘Legend of Fist – The Return Of Chen Zhen’.  Chen Zhen is a fictional character created by renowned Hong Kong writer, Ni Kuang. The character was first portrait by the Legendary Bruce Lee in his 1972 movie entitled ‘Fist Of Fury’ or ‘The Chinese Connection’.

There were many versions of Fist of Fury after Bruce Lee. And Yen also acted in one of them and was a Box Office in Asia level. He also acted in the same title in a Hong Kong’s television series which also a hot favourite among the Asian.

Bruce Lee is the top Chinese martial artist at that time. He is my favourite kung fu hero and is a culture hero to millions of Chinese around the world. In this 1972 movie version, Bruce Lee’s character of Chen Zhen is a student of the real life legendary Chinese Kung Fu Master, Hua Yuan Jia. The movie ended with Chen Zhen jumping up in front of his Wushu School to sacrifice his life in exchange for the continuity of his master’s wushu school, Chin Woo Wushu Association.

Donnie Yen’s new movie, The Return Of Chen Zhen, is a continuation of Bruce Lee’s movie in 1972. The story continued with Chen Zhen actually escaped death and has managed to abscond to  Shanghai. The story started with Chen Zhen managed to sneak into the local underworld triad and befriended the head. He is a cape crusader by night to help the good guys and fight baddies and evil people. The story get complicated when the trial head decided to join force with the Japanese to betray the Chinese.

There were a lot of good fight scenes which were very well choreographed. The fight scenes always peaked when Chen Zhen fought with the Japanese’s martial experts and the triad wushu experts.
